Stonewater Community Development District
The Stonewater Community Development District is a local, special-purpose government entity authorized by Chapter 190 of the Florida Statutes as amended, and established on December 14, 2020 by the City Council of the City of Cape Coral, Lee County Florida, Ordinance No 79-20 as an alternative method of planning, acquiring, operating and maintaining community-wide improvements in planned communities.
The Stonewater CDD encompasses an area of approximately 185 +\- acres within the City of Cape Coral, Florida. The land within the District borders the western boundary of Mariner Middle and High School and is south of Tropicana Parkway and east of Nelson Road.
The Stonewater CDD may authorize the general powers provided in Section 190.011, Florida Statutes. The District may exercise the special powers for parks and recreation services and facilities, security services and facilities, and waste collection and disposal services pursuant to Sections 190.012(2)(a), 190.012(2)(d) and 190.012(2)(f), Florida Statutes.

To plan establish, acquire, construct or reconstruct, enlarge, or extend, equip, operate, and maintain additional systems and facilities for parks and facilities for indoor and outdoor recreational, cultural, and educational uses, as well as facilities for security, including , but not limited to, guardhouses, fences and gates, electronic intrusion-detection systems, and patrol cars, when authorized by proper governmental agencies; except that the District may not exercise any police power, but may contract with the appropriate local general-purpose agencies for an increased level of such services within the District boundaries.
